The heat and humidity over the last couple weeks have been brutal, and after looking at the national weather map for the weekend, there won't be much reprieve for many of us. So what's one to do? 16 miles. On a Thursday. With 80% humidity. Put a fork in me because I am DONE! 🍴⠀ ⠀ That was HELLA hard, y'all. Mentally and physically. I had a brief interruption at mile 14. My water was gone (two bottles worth) and my tummy hurt. When I went back out for my last two miles, I honestly thought I was toast. The last quarter mile was the hardest -- shaking, dehydrated, the whole nine. Chocolate milk, ice water, PayDay, and yogurt covered raisins never tasted so good. 🥛⠀ ⠀ Moral of the story? It's hot. It's humid. And I wanted to die. But I made it! Long run = DONE! 🔥⠀ ⠀ Thank you to @eugeniabsweet and @moran_krus for keeping me company on the first 6, and @cgoykhberg for all the encouragement! Great way to start the day. 🙃⠀ ⠀ P.S. if you're running in this heat/humidity, HYDRATE. 💦💦💦⠀

I love running in the summer. It's warm, there are amazing sunrises, and I don't have to pile on all the layers. But there is one thing I don't like about summer running and that would be humidity. 💦 ⠀ ⠀ Humidity was the theme last week and as my miles and intensity continue to climb, I'm hopeful there's a break from it this week. It was a little on the humid side so despite running net downhill for the first half, I kept the pace nice and easy. The second half of the run wasn't easier but I was able to kick up the pace a tad. Or perhaps I just needed a 6 mile warmup. 😉⠀ ⠀ I tried @RunGum for the first time on today's run. The packaging warns that it's a little bitter to start (which it definitely was), but once I got used to the taste I rather liked it! Looking forward to trying out mint and fruit next. ⠀ ⠀ The rest of today will be spent coaching and eating. Woohoo! What are YOU up to this fine Saturday? 🏃♀️🚴♀️
So. So. Lucky. I love waking up and setting forth to views like this. My legs are beyond tired, and I have to go pick up my running shoes from work (because guess who left them there last night in her hurry to vamoose), but views of the skyline I've Lake Michigan + getting to run with Alex on a day like this give me just enough energy to shake those legs out. Second ever triathlon complete!! Loved the @triathlondegeneve super sprint - 250m swim, 7k bike, 2.5K run = 40 mins. Despite being overtaken a lot on the bike I felt proud that I had beaten all of them during the swim!! The ironman dream continues... #triathlon #genevetriathlon #fastisbeautiful #swimbikerun
