The release date for next album from intergalactic scumdogs GWAR has been announced. The Blood of Gods, the first GWAR album since the death of frontman Oderus Urungus/Dave Brockie, will drop October 20th via Metal Blade Records. A bittersweet announcement, to be sure, but since former-Beefcake Mike Bishop has returned to the band as Blothar on lead vocals, the band has refocused and has been playing a series of well-received gigs. GWAR's most recent release was 2013's Battle Maximus
Night Birds have announced some east coast and midwest shows that are scheduled for late September and October. These will be the band's last shows of 2017 and then they will be taking their recently-announced break from touring. Night Birds last released Mutiny at Muscle Beach in 2015 via Fat Wreck Chords. Fat Wreck Chords has announced that it will be releasing a 3-song 7-inch of demo tracks from the The Flatliners' album The Great Awake on September 15, 2017 as a part of their Original Demo Series. The songs featured on the release will be "This Is Giving Up," "Meanwhile, in Hell…" and "You Guys Want One Of These?" The label will also being giving The Great Awake a repressing for its 10th anniversary (also out on September 15, 2017). Additionally, Fat will be repressing Dead To Me's 2008 EP Little Brother and The Real Mckenzies' 2001 full-length Loch’d & Loaded both of which will be out on August 8, 2017. New Jersey indie band Prawn premiered a new track over at NPR. The track is off of their upcoming new album titled Run. Run is due out September 22, 2017 on Run For Cover Records. You can click here to listen to the new track. Prawn will be playing a few shows with Crime In Stereo this weekend and will be heading out to Europe with The Flatliners and Sh-t Present this fall.

The North Korean confrontation could escalate and Australia is within range of any intercontinental ballistic missiles, but Australia is not a primary target, Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop says. She called on all parties to step back from the escalating crisis. She declined to comment on the rhetoric used by US President Donald Trump, who said on Tuesday US time that North Korean threats would be met with "fire and fury like the world has never seen".

Former prime minister Tony Abbott has kicked off his campaign for a 'no' vote in a postal plebiscite, urging Australian to reject same-sex marriage if they want to protect religious freedom and reject political correctness. "Obviously I will be voting no. But in the end this is not about the politicians, this is about the people, it's about your view," he said on Wednesday morning. "And I say to you if you don't like same-sex marriage, vote no. If you're worried about religious freedom and freedom of speech, vote no, and if you don't like political correctness, vote no because voting no will help to stop political correctness in its tracks."
Live! from The Rock Room has released the first video from Chicago's Showoff. The track, "I Don't Hate You Yet," is a brand-new song which comes off of the band's forthcoming LP Midwest Side Story, which is due out September 22nd on Dodgeball Records. The band has been together intermittently since forming in 1997, with the current incarnation playing together since 2014. This will be their first release since 2006's Waiting for You EP.

Alberta, Canada's Trashed Ambulance, featuring members of Chimp Change and Loser Points, are on a roll this year. The band has announced their second release of the 2017. The Instant EP will drop August 31st on Thousand Island Records, and they have released the first single, "Kooby," from the album. TA, who have been around since 2014, albeit with several line-up changes, last released the A Dime for Every Time on Thousand Islands this past May.
