Jennifer A Middleton I try not to because I'm afraid that I'll get stuck and be unable to write unless all rituals and conditions have been met.
Cashton Briscoe Not at all. I just write. Needing certain parameters in place before someone feels comfortable writing can be somewhat restrictive. Writers have to write outside, inside, and around the box, no matter what the circumstances. I am not saying a cup of tea ...

THE MOMENT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR… ALMOST!! We will be announcing the 2017 PAGE Awards Quarter-Finalists tomorrow, July 15th. We know that many of you are waiting for this announcement with bated breath, so we will try to post the list as early in the day as possible. An email message will go out to all of this year's contestants as soon as the list is online. While we're very much looking forward to making this announcement, and we know it's going to make a lot of writers very happy, we also know that many writers are going to feel the sting of disappointment at not seeing their scripts on the list. If this happens to you, please know that you faced some tough competition this year, and there are many different reasons why your script may not have advanced this time around. So, remember, no matter what happens, you're in this for the long haul and you must never lose hope or let minor setbacks get in your way!

THE BIG DAY IS FAST APPROACHING... This Saturday, July 15th, we will be announcing the 2017 PAGE Awards QUARTER-FINALISTS!! In the meantime, to hold you over, here are some more of the terrific comments our Judges have written on their scorecards for this year's PAGE Awards competition... ACTION/ADVENTURE Judge writes: “A professionally written, original, and super exciting script! Pacing is high adrenaline from beginning to end, and the structure is solid as a rock. Protags are both kickass and emotionally compelling, and the villains are about as menacing as they come. Dialogue is smart, snappy, and real. Big kudos to this extremely talented writer. My vote: This one’s a winner!” SHORT FILM Judge writes: “Very cool concept here, and such a great showpiece for actors and director. This would be a real festival darling! Perfectly structured, pacing is dead on, tone is beautiful, and there’s a great twist/payoff at the end. Very impressed by what this writer was able to accomplish in so few pages.” TV COMEDY Judge writes: "One of the best half-hours I've read for the contest this year. Observant and messy in the best way. Memorable characters that are likable because of their flaws rather than in spite of them. Beautiful dialogue and real tension in the struggles of the characters. A highly original and pro-level pilot that definitely deserves to advance!”

YOWZA!!! In just ten days we will be announcing the 2017 Quarter-Finalists for the PAGE Awards competition! While we’re still calculating all the scores, one thing is for sure, the quality of this year’s scripts is higher than ever before. That alone deserves a huge round of applause for this year's contestants! For those of you who are curious about how the PAGE Awards judging process works, here's a little info for you: Both the First and Second Rounds of judging are currently in progress. Scripts that receive a score of 60 or above in the First Round (approximately the top 25% of all submissions in each genre category) automatically move into the Second Round of competition. Once the Second Round is completed, based on the combined scores of the First and Second Round Judges, the top 10% of all submissions in each category will advance to the Quarter-Final Round. Quarter-Finalists will be announced on July 15th Semi-Finalists will be announced on August 15th Finalists will be announced on September 15th Our 2017 Winners will be announced on October 15th Thanks again to each and every writer who entered this year's competition!!

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE!!! On Saturday, July 15th we will be announcing the 2017 PAGE Award Quarter-Finalists!! To tide you over 'til then, here's what some of our Judges are saying about your scripts... THRILLER/HORROR Judge writes: “Fantastic script, akin to AMERICAN PSYCHO, and the author is able to pull it off brilliantly. Story is tight, with enough WTF moments to keep us on our toes. Characters are sharp and dialogue memorable. This was an idea that could easily have gone so wrong, but author keeps a masterly control of the material, weaving a near perfect web of intrigue. Major talent on display here. Definitely a contender!” HISTORICAL FILM Judge writes: “A Beautifully written screenplay, from the evocative opening sequence through the vivid and cinematic action scenes. Nuanced, fascinating characters, with a heroic, resourceful, and deeply human lead. Dialogue is strong throughout and makes good use of occasional voiceover. Story choices — what to show, what to withhold — are spot on. This isn't going to be an easy project to set up but it is a powerful and cinematic story that deserves to be seen.” TV DRAMA Judge writes: ”WOW, what a stunning pilot... Strong across the board — current, meaningful, and a great twist on the procedural. The story is well plotted and well paced, engaging from start to finish, with a cast of extremely interesting, complex characters and powerful, punchy dialogue. The best pilot I’ve read so far this year. Big recommend!

53 reactions 6 comments
JO Bella No
Tracie Molton No problem. I love writing every act of my plays/musicals. :)
Kevin O'Leary If you have problems in the third act the structure in acts one and two is where you need to look.
Senthil Kumar Writers often don't answer the dramatic questions in Act 3 that they have set up in Act 1. And if you've a problem third act you've to look at the first act.
Curtis Clements Act 2 is the hardest. It has the most pages and you're constantly trying to escalate the story creatively.
